The Senhor Doutor Touriga Nacional 0.75 red wine is produced by Herdade da Maroteira in Alentejo. This single varietal Alentejo wine Touriga Nacional surprises us with lively aromas of violets, bergamot and black fruits in jam. In the mouth we find violets, with the wood perfectly integrated, a lot of freshness and elegance.
The Senhor Doutor range, developed at Herdade da Maroteira but with grapes from Évoramonte, results in a small selection of “author wines”. Wines with a very specific character, out of the box that put both our winegrower – Philip Mollet – and our consultant winemaker – António Maçanita to the test.
Touriga Nacional (100%), aged for 16 months in new French oak barrels, is robust and structured. A Wine of undeniable complexity, with strong aromas of bergamot, liquorice and discreet tones of leather. A wine that we think matches the Casta Rainha de Portugal.
